A Story With a Twist
When everything is falling apart around her, your protagonist is able to find something good, something that gives her hope. How would you go about making the event in your story with a twist? How would you make it more interesting? Tell a Story with a Cultural Twist Did you know the biggest conflict in most of the stories that we love is the conflict between the hero and the villain? In this example, your protagonist is trapped between a sword-wielding villain and a blood-thirsty dragon. Let's rewrite your story in this way: The heroine is trapped between a dragon and a sword-wielding villain. Your twist: the dragons are fire breathing, demonic, insane monsters. They are cast from another time and place and are being used as weapons to fight the heroes.

Come Up With an Idea That's Creative
Want to write a short story that comes from a great idea? Here's an exercise for you to try: Pick an object or phrase that's long and complex and a bit unusual. Write a story where the object is used as a device to explore the theme, theme is explored in a metaphor. Give Your Idea Some Context What is the setting? What's the purpose of your setting? What's going on in the world today that ties into the story? Which character or characters are relevant? Do you have any competing ideas? What would you want to happen?
