Let's say you have 10 minutes to spare and you want to write a story. Sounds like fun, right? Why not give it a try! Here are some Best and amazing ideas for what to write a Story  about:




The Challenge

Your writing challenge is to write a story that doesn't end until the second minute (or less) of the challenge, regardless of whether or not you have an outline or even a single character in mind. I know this one can be tough. You can post your story as a comment to this post. If it's too long, just edit out your paragraphs when the timer goes off. The Rules What's the prize? All entries will be published on the blogs over the next few months, for your reading pleasure. Why this challenge? If you don't have an outline or even a single character in mind, this will be a challenge for you. Not just to get the writing exercise in, but to create a full story that satisfies you. In other words, it's a mini writing contest for your eyes only.




A Story With a Twist

When everything is falling apart around her, your protagonist is able to find something good, something that gives her hope. How would you go about making the event in your story with a twist? How would you make it more interesting? Tell a Story with a Cultural Twist Did you know the biggest conflict in most of the stories that we love is the conflict between the hero and the villain? In this example, your protagonist is trapped between a sword-wielding villain and a blood-thirsty dragon. Let's rewrite your story in this way: The heroine is trapped between a dragon and a sword-wielding villain. Your twist: the dragons are fire breathing, demonic, insane monsters. They are cast from another time and place and are being used as weapons to fight the heroes.

Come Up With an Idea That's Creative

Want to write a short story that comes from a great idea? Here's an exercise for you to try: Pick an object or phrase that's long and complex and a bit unusual. Write a story where the object is used as a device to explore the theme, theme is explored in a metaphor. Give Your Idea Some Context What is the setting? What's the purpose of your setting? What's going on in the world today that ties into the story? Which character or characters are relevant? Do you have any competing ideas? What would you want to happen? How would you want to Write your story to end or Finish? What are the stakes? What would happen if your character succeeded? Give your Characters Something to Do What kind of action are your characters facing? What choices do they have? What conflicts are brewing?




How to Write Your Story in 10 Minutes

At the end of the exercise, everyone will have written a 5-10 minute story. Try to come up with a twist. What could happen next? One twist can really turn your story around.
